Doug Richards
I am a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) & Corporate Treasurer (ACT) and qualified with PWC London after spending a year working in investment banking in Japan for JPMorgan Cazenove. After qualification I worked in Corporate Finance at PWC London training in M&A, valuations and transaction advisory.

My Story
I have had the privilege of working with great businesses and brands over the last 30 years. I have developed experience across many businesses and ownership structures, including PE, listed multinational, private founder led & VC-backed businesses. Board roles have included CFO, COO/CFO hybrid and CEO giving wider leadership and operational experience.
I have deliberately managed my career to give me new skills and experience across multiple sectors including Retail Banking & Insurance, Fintech, B2B SaaS, Media & Entertainment, Online Retail Consumer & eCommerce, Health, Utilities.
I have also been fortunate to experience many different businesses working with established listed & global multinationals as well as start-up / scale-up growth businesses to maximise investor returns, multiple capital raising, and M&A.
After a successful PE exit in 2016 I co-founded 3 successful startup digital businesses (including setting up all finance activities) as well as taking on new roles with other businesses as a NED and Board Advisor.
I also trained as an executive coach at Henley Business School and developed personalised coaching programmes with a selection of finance leaders who i had worked with in the past.
In 2026 I made the conscious decision to launch Camp Financial Consulting to focus on Interim CFO roles and consultancy. After 30 years in permanent CFO, COO and CEO roles, I realised that the part of the job I enjoy most is the early phase of transformation — when a business needs clarity, pace and experienced leadership to stabilise finance, implement scalable operations, high quality insight, reporting and visibility and support the growth and strategic decisions of the business.
A lot of my career has involved stepping into situations where businesses were scaling quickly, undertaking acquisitions, preparing for transactions or going through significant change. In those environments I found I was often doing what an Interim CFO typically does — transaction support, funding, exits, strengthening the finance function, improving reporting and forecasting discipline, and helping management and investors navigate complex transitions.
Moving into interim roles was a deliberate decision to focus on that part of the work. It allows me to bring my experience into businesses at critical moments — whether that’s during rapid growth, leadership transition, refinancing or M&A — and quickly add impact and value without the long-term organisational constraints of a permanent role.
Private equity-backed businesses in particular tend to benefit from that kind of focused experience, because the pace is high and the expectation is that you deliver tangible improvements quickly. That’s exactly the environment I’ve spent most of my career in and where I feel I can contribute most effectively.

My Approach
I believe in building trust, transparency, being fully accountable and supporting leadership teams and investors with the knowledge to make confident financial decisions. My approach centres on developing a deep understanding of the business, the priorities and challenges that need addressing and delivering the right outcomes that lead to value creation for all stakeholders
